Since 1994, the Damen Shipyards Group has been building ships in the Changde shipyard in China.rnThis yard has the biggest facilities in Hunan Province. In 2002 the Damen Group purchased the shipyard's shares and facilities from the municipality of Changde. The yard is specialised in new-building of tugs and workboats. In accordance with the Damen philosophy, standardisation is the key to efficiency. The basic principle is to build ships in the way cars are built. Standard designs are built and kept in stock, to ensure a quick delivery at a competitive price. As with cars, clients can customise the standard designs with options to suit their needs.
