At Shipyard Kooiman in Zwijndrecht, the latest delivery is a powerful and multi-functional anchor-handling tug, named Nome. The vessel was ordered by Koerts International Towing Service. This family business, established in 1977, has operated the Viking - also built by Shipyard Kooiman - since March 2008. The owner was very happy with the performance of the Viking, which has been used for the towage of offshore platforms and for assistance and anchorhandling in various wind farm projects. Nevertheless, the need arose for a second and larger vessel, and the owner did not hesitate to call on Shipyard Kooiman again. In this newbuild, all the experience with previous vessels was incorporated through a tight collaboration between the owner, captain Jan Koerts, and the design department of Shipyard Kooiman.
