In his first year in office, Rotterdam Harbour Master Rene de Vries has reported a nautical good 2010 with more vessels calling the port and less accidents. Last year 116 nautical accidents occurred, compared against 124 in 2009. De Vries was sad to report one serious accident with two losses of life; two crew members of the capsized tugboat Fairplay 22 in November.
