Inlet strainers are available in variety of sizes. The most common used materials are steel, stainless steel or cast iron. Inlet strainers made of these materials is subjugated to microbiological, pitting or galvanic corrosion due to filtering of (sea) water. Kampen Mechanical Group engineers produces and delivers inlet strainers entirely made of plastic which eliminates corrosion. An additional advantage is that housing and filter baskets are at least five times as lighter as a conventional metal housing with filter basket. The supplied filter basket is fully made out of a lightweight plastic so with a very smooth surface. As a result of this smooth surface there is less biological fouling, and due to the weight, it can be taken out and cleaned easily.
