These are trying times for those involved in the Western LNG market. It is hopeful that the availability of gas worldwide is much higher than that of oil. It is expected that oil rates will rise faster than those of gas. Yet, throughput of LNG in Rotterdam is next to nothing. "As it is, LNG is relatively expensive", Rotterdam Port Authority CEO Hans Smits observed when presenting the annual results of 2012.
