Holland America Line (HAL) is a 5-star cruise line that sails the Seven Seas, including environmentally vulnerable areas such as the waters off the coasts of Alaska, Norway and Antarctica. To preserve and protect ecosystems, all operating systems aboard comply with the most stringent ISO 14001 standards, used by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). In going green, HAL goes to great lengths. Its approach ranges from using clean fuel and environmentally friendly printer ink made from soy, to re-using residual heat. Even the dry cleaner works with a harmless cleaning product made from orange extracts.
