C&G Boats designs innovative crewboats in 2008

The M/V Bourbon Axelle was delivered in May to its Grandweld, Dubai owner. Operating in Nigeria, the crew boat was designed by Mobile, Alabama-based C&G Boats and has the same propulsion package that was used for the M/V Alioth. The 165 ft Alioth was launched in late 2007 by C&G for Rigdon Marine. The Bourbon Axelle measures 165 ft x 29 ft and has a molded depth of 14 ft. It's propulsion is provided by four Cummins KTA50M2 diesel engines that each deliver 1,800 hp to AZF465 gears with 3.04:1 ratios. In addition a 270 hp Cummins 6CTA-8.3D (M) engine powers the bow thruster while the gensets are powered by 122 hp Cummins 6BT5.9-D (M) engines. The vessel can carry 19 tons of fuel in each of its six tanks and 50,000 gal of water in 12 tanks. Deck cargo capacity allows for approximately 150 tons. The vessel can carry 12 crew members plus 82 additional passengers. C&G is also currently work-ing on a series of innovative boats, set to be launched this year. One such crewboat is the 175 ft × 34 ft crewboat for Graham Gulf Inc.
