NAVY TURNS DOWN THE NOISE

When a ship passes over the ocean's surface the marine life underneath, it is flooded with an intense and sometimes constant wave of sound. This sound, called waterborne noise, or marine noise pollution, has been getting an increasing amount of attention from those in the maritime industry, government agencies and conservation societies alike over the last few years. What is marine noise and how can different facets of the maritime industry reduce it's noise level, were just some of the questions asked at the recent IMO meeting held in London.
