Headquartered in Dubai, UAE, Vela International Marine Limited is a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco and the sixth largest VLCC operator in the world. Its fleet makes more than 1,000 voyages annually, some 3 million barrels of crude daily. This past June, Vela added the 319,100 dwt Virgo Star, the second in a series of four Very Large Crude Carriers built by Korea's Daewoo Marine Shipbuilding and Engineering Ltd. (DSME).
