RFP to design new class of S.I. Ferry

The Staten Island Ferry, second only to Washington State Ferries in the number of passengers it carries annually, is looking to design a new class of ferry to replace its aging Kennedy and Barberi Class ferries, as well as modify the propulsion systems on its Molinari Class ferries. The one Kennedy Class ferry is over 50 years old and the two Barberi Class vessels are about 30 years old. The New York City Department of Transportation, Ferry Division, issued a Request for Proposals on July 17 for "Total Design and Construction Support Services for the Construction of New and Modified Staten Island Ferries."
