The wave-piercing cat challenges the trimaran as a future platform

The first Incat high-speed wave-piercing catamaran was launched in 1977, and since then the genus has developed and grown in the commercial shipping sector. This has been accelerated by way of record-breaking trans-Atlantic crossings in 1989 with the 74m Hoverspeed GB and, a decade later, the 91m Catalonia and Cat-Link V with respective speeds of 36.97, 38.0 and 41.28kts.
