Improving the lubrication of two-stroke engines

The main reasons for adding cylinder oil to the cylinders are to: lubricate the cylinders in order to obtain a stable hydro-dynamic oil film between cylinder liner and piston rings, maintain the cleanliness of the cylinder liner and piston rings, and neutralise acids formed during combustion to avoid cold corrosion attack on cylinder liner surfaces. According to Denmark's Hans Jensen Lubricators the above objectives can be met while at the same time reducing cylinder oil consumption, and thereby the environmental impact, by using the HJL Swirl Injection Principle (SIP) cylinder lubrication system.
