When this feature was planned just over 12 months ago, the world was a different place even if there were already warning signs in evidence. Container ship demand seemed to be continuing as before and more and more post-Panamax vessels were being ordered, each with one of the world's most powerful diesel engines for propulsion. What a difference 12 months makes! Today, we are facing a totally different situation with ever more vessels idle and many going into layup, slow steaming has become the norm, and numerous liner schedules are being reduced or cancelled altogether.
