Martek marine has launched Vigilant, a calibrated funnel smoke monitoring system which offers a valuable source of scientific evidence against any erroneous allegations of black smoke. Stringent rules against this within sight of shore -notably in regions such as Alaska and Hawaii - are backed up by 'spotters' employed by authorities to report any infringements.
