摘要

I know that nobody is supposed to be interested in good news, and that we are encouraged to believe that the world is going to end unless we stop using oil, buy only local produce and eat five portions of fruit every day. We have four year olds whimpering about the melting icecaps and demanding that Daddy buys an electric car. What we don't have is enough people demonstrating what clever engineers and designers are doing to produce more efficient products that are - wait for it - more sustainable. Because they are out there, in their engineering workshops, and research laboratories and design companies - even their garages and sheds - in profusion. We know that they are busy, because we see the products of their labours, in their gradual movement from concept through to marketable reality.
