The high fuel prices currently prevalent in the market have meant that bunker costs account for up to 70% of operational spend - significantly higher than in the past. Most ship owners and operators are closely scrutinising the total costs across their supply chain with a view towards max-imising savings and protecting their bottom line. Accordingly a number of leading global fuel sup-plier and traders are calling for a more open, trans-parent and sustainable approach to managing lines of credit.
