Waertsilae has been selected as the partner for both initial and basic design of a new gas fuelled ferry as part of the 'Midway Alignment of the Bothnian Corridor' project. The ferry is customised to operate between Vaasa in Finland and Umea in Sweden, across the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea. "The design of the new ferry is a key activity in the project to develop a multi-modal logistics corridor across the Gulf of Bothnia. Feasibility and environmental sustainability are essential cornerstones," says Mathias Lindstroem, director, Kvarken Council and project leader for the Midway Alignment of the Bothnian Corridor project.
