B-Box for ballast peace of mind

Hyde marine has announced that it will begin using the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ)'s new ballast water sampling test service, B-box. The testing service was designed to help ballast water treatment (BWT) companies and shipowners test the operations of their systems. It is able to provide information on the physical (alien organsims) and chemical variables that may be present in the ships' ballast water. B-box contains sample bottles that can be filled with treated ballast water, mixed with provided test chemicals and sent to NIOZ for validation. A number of tests will be performed on physical-chemical variables and concentrations of organisms as requested by a client, such as Hyde Marine, and an analysis of the chemicals and organisms present in the water will be provided. Additionally, service personnel can be trained to take the samples and prepare them for shipment.
