MAN Diesel & Turbo's decision to acquire the Kappel propeller from Jens Julius Kappel two years ago proved fortuitous for the company's product portfolio, which was able to expand in to fixed pitch propellers (FPP) last year. "Being in this market had always been on our wish list, but to do so you need a competitive edge, particularly in the Far East where rivals have their own proprietary designs," Morten Rasch, sales manager MAN Diesel & Turbo told MER, adding that all its FPP propellers feature the Kappel design. The propeller blade designs have also been integrated into the company's controllable pitch propeller (CPP) range - and now feature in 90% of all CPP offerings.
