Scrubber bonanza for Waertsilae

Norway-based owner Solvang has followed through on an option for further exhaust gas cleaning systems from Waertsilae, bringing the tally of open loop scrubber systems for its vessels to six. The latest order, in March, was for an installation onboard a LCC (Large Gas Carrier), the third of this type of vessel for the owner. Solvang has already installed Wartsila open loop scrubbers aboard two VLGCs (Very Large Gas Carriers) previously at Hyundai Heavy Industries, which will also perform the new installations. The last contract was to retrofit the system onboard the LPG tanker Clipper Harald, with delivery scheduled for summer.
