Azipods for Finnish icebreaker

ABB is to supply Finnish Transport Agency (FTA) with electric power plant and Azi-pod propulsion units for one icebreaker vessel under construction at Arctech Helsinki Shipyard with delivery scheduled for 2016. The new vessel will operate in the Baltic Sea and feature dual fuel capability, thereby making it the first icebreaker in operation able to run using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a fuel.
