Widely acknowledged as a cavitation guru, Gert Kuiper has retired from MARIN after nearly 40 years. Much of his working life has been spent observing cavitation effects and although the industry's knowledge has grown compared to the early 1970s, each day there are fresh problems to address as shipowners push for ever-more powerful vessels.
