New president at Ganong

Doug Ettinger will succeed David Ganong as president and CEO of the Canadian candy and chocolate company Ganong Bros. Ltd. He will be die fifth president in the 135-year company history and the first from outside the family. Ettinger has held positions with Coca-Cola Co., Nestle, Parmalat and Saputo Inc. David Ganong took over the presidents job in 1977. He will remain a director, will advise the company in some capacity and is still the 93 percent owner. Ganong has two children in the business. The next generation consists of Ganong's daughter Bryana, who is manager of the expanding private label business, and son Nick, who runs the chocolate department. The rise of the Canadian dollar and soaring commodity prices, have forced the shutdown of a number of confectionery factories in Canada.
