Lotte purchases stake in Pakistani firm

South Korean confectioner Lotte Confectionery Co. has signed a deal to buy a controlling stake in K.S. Sulemanji Esmailji & Sons Ltd., a Pakistani confectioner, for 20 billion won (US$17.9 million). Under the deal, Lotte Confectionery will own a 69.45 percent stake in the Pakistani company. Last year, K.S. Sulemanji Esmailji & Sons posted 33 billion won (US$29 million) in sales.
