In 1917, Louis and Esther Rheb started making candy in the basement of their home. Louis was self-taught, studying from books and experimenting for many years. In the mid-1930s, they opened a stall in a local market and in 1950 they converted their garage into a store; it is still the main store today and the Rheb family is now in their fourth generation of candymaking.
