The American Association of Candy Technologists (AACT) has announced that Tyler Yany has been selected to receive the 2021-2022 John Kitt Memorial Scholar-ship.Yany is a junior majoring in food science at Pennsylvania State Uni-versity (PSU), where he has been involved in research since his first semester. Projects include describing chocolate cultivars with sensory techniques and ex-amining milk powder selection in media mills. Yany is also an officer of the PSU Food Chemistry club. After graduation, he hopes to work in product de-velopment or for a small cocoa grinder creating unique chocolate.The scholarship is given in memory of an honored candy technologist, John Kitt, who died in 2009. He had worked at Kraft, Nabisco, Standard Brands, and Knechtel Laboratories. Kitt shared his knowledge with the confectionery industry through talks and articles. Applications for the 2022 - 2023 scholarship will open in the spring.
