The invention concerns a switching device (B) for switching electrical currents with a majority of branches placed in parallel between a first connection (10) and a second connection (12) (14, 16),where each branch (14, 16) has a sequence switch of a first switch (B1, B3) and a second switch (B2, B4) and a driver switch (TB),which is equipped for this purpose, a switching signal (CB),the switch-on phase and switch-off phases (B) are defined to convert into individual switch-on acts (B1, B2, B3, B4) defining clock signals (CB1, CB2, CB3, CB4) and switch switches (B1, B2, B3, B4) such that the switch-on mode (B) transforms the switch-on and off phases of the switch signal (CB)is implemented with a switch frequency (B) higher than an achievable rate of a single switch (B1, B2, B3, B4).A power converter may have such a switch arrangement (B).The invention also concerns a procedure for operating such a switch (B).
