All the above, if done right, will positively effect management's ability to manage telemarketing departments more effectively. However, at the end of the day, the goal of the telemarketing department is to reach as many customers as possible. Jenner did not find the root of the problem. The tclemarketer must be on the telephone for as long as it takes, repeating being hung up on or being told no. For some telemarketcrs this is fine, for others it is not. As it stands, the turnover rate for telemarketing departments is 28%. The real problem stems from the inherent nature of the job. If the tclemarketer does not believe in what they are doing, then why do it. Especially, if the telemarketer is underpaid, under-appreciated, or not respected by the customer or management. In order to effectively change the current situation facing telemarketing managers, the goal of the telemarketing department must change.
