Comfort characteristics of cotton knitted fabrics with hollow yarn structure developed by removing the core component of cotton covered PVA core-spun ring yarns after knitting were studied in this paper. The cotton hollow yarns have more air space at the centre because of the removal of core component from the structure of the cotton yarn. It has a special and unique structure-low fibre packing density and high bulkiness. PVA dissolved hollow yarn knitted fabric gives better thermal insulation when compared to normal yarn knitted fabrics due to thicker and bulkier yarn structure, higher thermal resistance, lower thermal conductivity and higher ratio of peak and stationary heat flow density. Thermal diffusivity of PVA dissolved hollow yarn knitted fabric is higher than that of normal yarn fabrics. PVA dissolved hollow yarn knitted fabric gives 'warm' feeling when compared to normal yarn knitted fabrics because of lower thermal absorption.
