The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has abandoned its proposal to require S manufacturers of wood-burning stoves and heaters to certify their products using cord wood, but the agency's decision to establish alternative emissions standards in its first update to new source performance standards for residential wood heaters since 1988 is an attempt to encourage industry to adopt the yet-to-be-finalized test method.
