On Becoming a Developer : One person's journey into the world of software development

Hello, my name is Allen, long time software user, first time developer. This article looks at the thought processes that shaped the development of my first product, Watchman Monitoring. To make Watchman Monitoring come to life, I needed a dynamic plug-in system for checking various hardware issues, and needed to design it to be easily modified for adding new checks or updating existing plug-ins.
