The Thamshavn Railway - A Pioneer in AC Traction

In the summer of 2004 the author paid a visit to the Trondheim area in central Norway. After visiting the Norwegian State Railways (NSB) main diesel workshops at Marienborg and the Trondheim tramway museum at Munkvoll he turned his attention to the Thamshavnbanen (Thamshavn Railway), which runs from the small coastal town of Thamshavn, about 50 km south-west of Trondheim, to the community of L?kken.
