A New Day FOR OLD MAIN

Sometimes the most intriguing and beautiful things are right under our noses and we don't even know it. This was the case when Carroll College, Waukesha, WI, decided to give its campus jewel, Main Hall, a $4 million facelift. Given its distinction as a campus and community landmark, the building is affectionately known as "Old Main" and is the oldest building on the 2000-student campus. Carroll College, located in the heart of Waukesha, and overlooking the historic downtown area and scenic Fox River, is a private coed college with more than 50 academic programs and a curriculum grounded in the liberal arts. "Old Main" was designed in 1885 by Chicago architect Colonel S.V. Shipment. The building is recognized for its distinctive Waukesha limestone exterior and has been remodeled several times throughout the last century. The Great Lakes Office of Hammel, Green and Abrahamson (HGA), Milwaukee, WI, was commissioned in August 2002 to bring the facility into the 21 st century.
