The LIGHTFAIR International 2010 conference held in May in Las Vegas was a study in contrasts. About three quarters of the lighting products chosen for Innovation Awards featured LEDs, as did the exhibitor booths, as if LEDs were the one and only light source that served all lighting needs. The Department of Energy (DOE) in turn, subsidizes the LED industry, controls the 90.1 the energy code that mandates the lighting power density (LPD) allowances and also supports cookbook solutions for office lighting.
