As Superstorm Sandy struck the East Coast last fall, power was knocked out to millions of homes and businesses. But utility FirstEnergy quickly pressed GE Lighting's Hendersonville, N.C., manufacturing plant into action, and in just one day, nearly 40 employees built and delivered 1,000 HID street lighting fixtures to FirstEnergy's New Jersey territory.
