Construction begins of 39km Riyadh Metro

Initial works on the first 25km north-south phase of a light rail project for Saudi Arabia's capital city, Riyadh, began in early November. Currently nine out of ten residents of the city's 6.5 million population use a car to commute and the 23-station first phase will cover 30 districts of the capital from Olaya and Batha in the north to the southern ring road.
