London riots stop Croydon tram services

Services on London Tramlink had to be stopped in early August as a result of damage to the network caused by widespread rioting that swept through parts of the UK capital. A major tire at Reeves Corner in Croydon damaged overhead lines and track, forcing suspension of services between East Croydon and Wandle Park. A shuttle service ran to Wimbledon and from East Croydon to New Addington and Beckenham Junction. Trams also ran during the day to Elmers End, but this branch was used for the storage of trams unable to reach the depot, limiting its availability for public services.
