Phased construction underway on Edinburgh's tramway extension

A phased programme of major works to deliver the extension of the Edinburgh tramway (UK) to Newhaven is to start on 15 November. Passenger services on the new 4.7km (2.9-mile) extension are expected to begin during spring 2023, with the 15 phases of work taking until the previous summer. Each phase is expected to last for between six and 18 months. Finalisation of the plans has also shown that the GBP207.3m (EUR240m) project budget reported in the Final Business Case remains achievable.
