Investigation concludes Sandilands driver probably 'lost awareness'

The UK's Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) has issued a report into the accident on the London Tramlink system on 9 November 2016 that resulted in seven deaths. Tram 2551 was travelling at around 73km/h (45mph) as it entered the curve to Sandilands junction, where there is a 20km/h (12mph) limit. The tram overturned as it passed through the curve and slid along the ground on its side. Of the 69 passengers involved in the accident, seven died and 61 were injured, 19 seriously.
