Ben in Tuscany

Midmorning, when the sun dries the fog to clear blue sky and warms the soil, Tuscany opens up to the senses. March may not seem as exciting as the festive summer months, but airfares are half that of the high season, and so are the crowds. Even in late February, the landscape is unbelievably lush, and the air is seasoned by the rosemary, thyme, and daisies that have already begun to flower. Two days ago, my nose slumbered hopelessly under ten inches of snow in southeast Michigan, jerked awake by occasional exhaust fumes. I'm weak to refer to this as anything short of rescue by pistil and petal.
