Science fiction romance is about finding the perfect blend of flavors from two often disparate genres. To use a different analogy, think of romance as a universal donor: it can be set in any time period-past, present, or future-as long as the romance is at the center of the story and it resolves to the expected romantic conclusion, either an HEA (happy ever after) or an HFN (happy for now).
