In-house Staff Training Programme at Delta State University Library, Ahraka, Nigeria

The workshop happened to be the first of its kind in this university library since its inception in 1992. It is no wonder therefore that it became very evident that staff knowledge and work-skills needed to be updated so that they can perform their duties better. The need to embark on this form of workshop cannot be over emphasized especially in the face of changing demands of library clienteles for improved library services. The workshop focused on various library routines in which the non-professional and professional staff of the library is usually involved. Participants were very enthusiastic about the workshop and expressed how much more competent they feel about performing their jobs and how much more they can contribute to the workflow of the library. Training needs to be ongoing, and staff shared that it hopes that the library management would make it a regular feature in the library.
