The Society for Scholarly Publishing Annual Meeting

This year's annual meeting of the Society of Scholarly Publishing (SSP) attracted the largest attendance on the west coast with over 500 persons. In San Francisco at the majestic Palace Hotel, the program reflected interests of all constituencies and membership groups of SSP. The conference theme, "Toward new economies of information access" drew more librarians than ever in the past and hosted several tracks that all had wide universal appeal in a panorama of issues surrounding transitional trends in scholarly communication. Several pre-conferences were held for specific audiences on issues including pricing electronic journals, latest publishing technologies, libraries and licensing, linking, XML, and managing change.
