Hot off the Press! Social media, books, movies and ... libraries!

"Hot off the Press!" is a column dedicated to new trends and tendencies in information technologies and social networking with a note of the items' value to technologies in libraries. Also mentioned in the column are new books on topics such as mobile computing, social networking, and even novels with a focus on technology. Also highlighted are some technology blogs, web sites, archived webinars, movies with a technology theme, and more. This issue is dedicated to social media in books, movies and libraries: it is now a true topic for literature or essays, and may even be found sometimes in cinema. Of course, there are a lot of articles in newspapers now using Facebook or Twitter as central themes for their "Tech" rubric. You may remember one of my recent reviews of an article called "I met my son on Facebook" showing how social networks are now part of all generations in a French-Parisian family, from the parents to the children and grand-parents, while also including friends (LHTN, Vol. 29, No. 3, 2012).
