Stahl acquires BASF Leather Chemicals unit

Stahl Group has signed an agreement to bolt on BASF's leather and chemicals business. As part of a deal signed in March, the latter will receive a 16% minority stake in the former. The transaction also includes BASF's leather chemicals production site in L'Hospitalet, Spain. The deal will affect around 210 positions globally, of which half are based in Asia. BASF will supply significant volumes of leather chemicals to Stahl under mid to long-term supply agreements. The transaction is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2017.
