The leather industry has many unique qualities, but the challenges in the first half of 2020 have proved that it is unlike any other. The Covid-19 pandemic and the shutdown of large parts of the global economy has hit hard the companies that rely not only on a global supply chain of raw materials and chemicals, but also a global consumer base. Key companies in the supply chain - be they large global operators or smaller, specialist businesses - have all had to carefully consider how they operate in order to find the efficiencies that they need in order to survive in difficult times. Fortunately, some have found the resolve to look not only at the numbers in sales forecasts, but also at the people who are the heart and soul of any business.
