Ecuadorian mobile telephony operators had received 29,092 requests for mobile number portability (MNP) as of January 25, 2010, following the service's introduction on October 12, 2009, according to a statement from the country's telecoms supervisory body, Suptel. 15,855 users requested to have their number ported from Porta to Movistar, while 8,596 asked to port their numbers from Movistar to Porta. The rest were to and from state-owned Alegro PCS, which had a net loss of 25 ports.
