Movistar Guatemala announced yesterday (29 October) that it has switched on its 1900MHz 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in 'the capital city, provincial capitals and some tourist sites'. Humberto Pato-Vinuesa, Telefonica's director of Guatemalan operations, commented: This launch complements the comprehensive coverage of Movistar's 3G network. Within the last ten months we have invested more than US$100 million. The good news is that all regions of Guatemala will enjoy the new LTE technology. It is our differentiator.' At launch the cellco notes that a total of 14 handsets support the 4G network.
