Cabo Telecom acquires Cortez Online

Brazilian cableco Cabo Telecom has reportedly acquired Sao Jose de Mipibu-based ISP Cortez Online, adding another 15,000 subscribers to its user base. The value of the deal has not been disclosed. The takeover has been designed to complement the cableco's existing business in Natal (also situated in the state of Rio Grande do Norte). Cabo Telecom CEO Claudio Alvarez was quoted by local news sites as saying: 'Cabo Telecom has a consolidated presence in Natal built up over 20 years, so we are now looking more closely at markets in the metropolitan region.'
