Telefonica partners with Guadalajara on 'Luca Tourism' big data project

Telefonica Mexico has reached an agreement with the Guadalajara Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Jalisco Secretariat of Tourism to launch a big data pilot designed to help the city of Guadalajara reactivate its tourism business in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Under the project, dubbed Luca Tourism after the operator's Luca Big Data and Al unit, Guadalajara will pioneer the use of innovative technologies to analyze the behavior of tourists. The aim is to detect the aggregate displacement of more than 250 million national and international tourists, their behavior patterns and their economic impact.
